Getting Inspired in The Shower

Does that ever happen to you, that you have been sitting behind your computer screen with your mind completely blocked, not being able to come up with what to write next and than at the most inconvenient  moment possible, the ideas will come popping up.

That is what just happened to me, I had been working for quite a while and needed to come up with the next article to write on this blog. But after having stared at the screen with my mind completely blank I started looking around for inspiration.

Not online, just right here in my office, staring out the window and dreaming off. Needless to say inspiration did come enter my brain at all, instead I was just wasting my time completely.

I started going back through my blog, trying to find that much needed inspiration but nothing happened. Then I went through some favorite blogs I hadn´t visited for a while to see if they could enlighten me on what was going to be my next topic. Again nothing came up.

So in the end, instead of just sitting there, sifting through I don´t know how many websites and pages I felt it was time for a refreshing shower.

And with my head all shampood and showerfoam dripping down I finally got inspired. But this time thoughts started running through my mind, enough topics to cover atleast 50 bright new sparkly clean blog entries, but with the spunge in my hand and my hair shampood there was no way to get them on paper fast enough.

You probably already guessed it… as soon as I got my hand on a pen and paper to jot all of them down to work out later on, they had already disappeared again. All these great ideas and funny stories, inspirational thoughts and motivational imput was completely gone, almost as if they had left with the showerwater down the drain.

Same thing occurs to me all the time when I am driving my car and just can´t write thingsdown, my mind starts coming up with all these great sentences, wonderful paragraphs and fluent articles I really should publish and get out into the world, but as soon as I sit behind the computer they are all gone.

Man I just hate that,  does that ever happen to you?

The next thing on my wishlist is a good voice recorder, preferably waterproof so no ideas will ever get lost and all my inspiration will be used to the fullest of my abilities!

Come to think of it, a good voice recorder in combination with speech recognition writing software would certainly make life easier and more productive….

Anyways, I just noticed in my sidebar that this will actually be Post Number Hundred on this blog, so in between uncertainty, lack of inspiration and short breaks I actually did manage to crack out 100 posts and ideas. Granted, there are quite a few that I should never have posted but that is in hindsight and I am letting them stay just were they are because those posts also form part of my learning journey ever since I started this blog.

The fact that I did reach 100 blog posts though does make me think and reconsider just where I want this blog to go and that maybe I should start writing more over here again, making adjustments to the topics.

I feel some changes coming up!

Update: Cindy from soapourri.com suggested a diver´s slate that could be the solution. It´s a few items down in the list, I missed on first sight, it´s a few items down…Must have had soap in my eyes!

Still looking though for that waterproof voice recorder, so if you guys know of any available… please let me know!

Congratulation! You just reached a new milestone.

I had the same problem with my ideas disappear in few seconds. I was going to recommend you a recorder. I need that too. I don’t usually get ideas while taking shower, because I am used to 3 minutes shower that I learned in Military. However, I do get some toilet ideas! ;-) So I have a pen and paper just right next to me while making myself comfortable. :-)

You are doing great! With such positive attitude, you can reach you goal for sure! I like your new tag line - “One step at a time

Keep it coming. I am having fun with you blog!

I always take a pen and paper to the shower. Put the pen behind my year, paper wedged in the crack of my @$$, ready to bend over any minute to scribble those elusive thoughts down.

Very recommended. And now, a new and improved blog-in-the-shower kit at an amazing $27.99!!!

    Hey Terence,
it sure does feel like a milestone plus the one-year line coming up in a few months, so it is good to still be alive LOL

with the ideas it is really funny, they come popping out the minute I get into the shower or my car, both situations where I can´t write them down so always trying to hold on them long enough, but a voice recorder of some sort would really help.

Next month I have a huge drive coming up from the south of Spain all the way up to the north, about an 11 hour drive which will definately give me plenty new ideas and thoughts ;)

always good to see you around here and thanks for the support you have given me all this time, sooo much appreciated!

    Hi Mirjam,

Shoot…and here I thought I was the only smart one that was going to recommend using a voice recorder. Oh well…….

I haven’t been reading this blog for a while so decided to stop by.

    Excellent work you’re doing here.

I’m still struggling with my “Fresh News” Theme. I’ll e-mail you about it.

    Have a wonderful week end.

Hey Joyce, glad you stopped by (and thanks for the scratch, much appreciated!) and commented. LOL I´ll be waiting for your mail but please take in account that I am having a lot of trouble logging in on the Internet, so if it takes a while to respond, you´ll know why :)

    Take care!

Ah, people after my own heart! I make bath and body products but I now also sell a diver’s slate on my site because I love mine sooo much. A very nice inexpensive solution!

I think pretty much all my post ideas come to me away from the computer, I try my best to remember them but usually can only remember the general idea, rather than the post I’d started to write in my head at the time of inspiration. A voice recorder is a good idea, might look into getting one myself.

a voice recorder is definitely on my list for Xmas… I just hate to lose the “flow” that comes out of those moments of inspiration and once I do get to write it down, it just doesn´t seem the same anymore …

    Thanks for stopping by!

Quick update, I found out that my phone has a voice recorder, I’ve already used it a couple of times to remember ideas I had away from the computer! Awesome stuff.
