Affiliate Marketer Back from Holiday

I promised to post a picture as soon as I´d be back from my short birthday holiday and after looking at the pictures, I thought this was the best picture of all.
Maybe it is not the kind of picture you expected me to post but I have chosen this one for a reason. This picture represents the way of life I am working hard for to achieve. I am not a beach bumb, nor do I like spending hours and hourse, days in a row on the beach, but I do like the occasional break and the freedom I could go to the beach whenever I chose to do.
So this picture represents the freedom of choice, the freedom to decide when and where to work and the freedom to chose when to have my breaks.
Anyways, this picture was taken last Monday while my mom, her friend and I were sitting on the beach near Malaga, South of Spain, and were trying to “recuperate” from the birthday party the day before, so we decided to go to the beach. I love the beach this time of year, when there are still only few tourists and one can just relax, enjoy the sun, sleep a bit, chat and laugh without being disturbed by kids building sand castles, running around and blowing sand everywhere.
So we sat on the beach for the afternoon, ordering drinks and tapas every now and then, and just enjoyed eachothers company.
For me it was a great 5 days, I didn´t even turn on my computer and tried not thinking about work too much. We all need time to completely disconnect don´t we?
Now seeing that this is already a bit of a personal post (something I don´t do very often, so don´t worry if this is your first visit, just read any of the other posts and you´ll see what I mean) I think this is also a good moment to talk a bit about dreams and goals for the future. An opportunity has come up recently and it will allow me to move to a nicer home with better perspectives.
With better perspectives I actually mean a better internet connection, since at present I am using a mobile usb modem that goes awefully slow, and has caused me quite some headaches, especially during my squidoo test case period, where I was unable to log into any of my accounts! I´ll probably be able to sort out that problem this week, but it got me thinking about using free resources to build a business.
I really felt aweful, almost like a failure during my OWM study case, seeing that I could only do part of the work involved on squidoo, so I didn´t reach nearly the potential of the project that I wanted to reach and that while I was going public with it. On the other hand, I did give me some time to reflect and share my findings with you guys:
* Even though the project isn´t close to be completed (the squidoo part that is), I did get 2 sales on it so far.
* Even though I haven´t worked on any other project I had priorly set up, and wasn´t able to access either, they did make a few more sales while on holiday.
Both points are encouraging enough for me to conclude that yes, money can be made with free resources and yes, money can be made after doing the initial work.
However I do feel that there is always room for improvement and it might be safer to build on resources that are not completely free. Not saying here that that is the law of affiliate marketing, since I know of many free blogs and other free resources that make a lot of money. I think that in the end you gotta look at the big picture, combine paid resources with free ones, as soon as the free ones are giving you money to invest. This way you are covering your back in case the free resources, no matter which ones, fall away.
I will continue building squidoo projects, because it is fun and has shown to be profitable, but I am also gonna do another case study regarding article marketing, testing an article submission service I have been using in the past, along with another case study on a certain type of website that I will be working on these coming 2 weeks.
Sounds like I am talking in riddles today, but it will become clearer in the near future, so don´t miss out on that!
I have plenty more writing to do today, part of the work will focus on writing guest posts. Now I have mentioned this before, I will soon publish short descriptions of posts I have written so that any of you interested in having a guest post of me on your blog can contact me directly and choose which of the articles you´d like to publish yourself, on a first come first serve base. More to come on that soon!

Welcome back!
Good luck in your new beginnings… (sounds like a postcard greeting a bit)
Anyway.. you should’ve taken another week or two off. You get your batteries charged over the top and so sick of not doing anything that you get back and give it 130%…
Cheers,
Alex
