Unless you make significant changes to every article (which is not possible when using an article submission service), you won't get any "link love" back. However, I did some research into this subject by checking pagerank for randomly picked sites and they range between 0 and 8, many PR3 and PR4. In the end it is a matter of deciding what you want to achieve. PageRank isn´t everything, but exposure and backlinks will also help you in searchengines other than google.
