I´m on a Break!

If you only recently found my blog and liked the posts, please know that I do have a regular posting shedule and normally renew my blog 5-7 times a week.
If you came in looking for new content, I am sorry to disappoint you, but I won´t be posting until the 15th of April. I really need some time off in order to actually plan and work through several lightbulb moments I have mentioned in my last two posts.
I will be back full strength though so I hope to see you in the near future again, please know that I will check the comments and reply to all of them!

Everyone needs a break. Looking forward to seeing what comes from these light bulb moments. I have those all the time but rarely follow through. Always thinking “some day…”
Again enjoy the time and enjoy your birthday.

I think we might do the same thing. We have a few projects we want to work on and keeping up the daily posting is murder…
We have a few saved so I think we’re going to space them out every other day for a bit and put it on autopilot.
Good luck with your planning. And congratulations on winning our $5 comment contest! It’s like a free coffee or pint… well almost a pint.

Instead of spending the $5 on a pint, I have invested it in 5 new domains with privacy protection, which is forming part of the planning I am doing right now, so the prize is already worth a lot more than just a beer
Thank you for that!

That I do. I am sworn to secrecy but I know it is going to great.

Ok. You got me (You left great comment bait on WebDiggin…)
Where are you getting domain names for $1 per domain with privacy registration? Are they .com domains?
By the way, you might be interested in Stephen’s keywordluv plugin (http://www.scratch99.com/2008/04/new-wordpress-plugin-keywordluv)
Or at least Jim might. It separates your name from your keywords. So the name would become Jim from Just a Guy

hahaha I knew that would catch your attention
godaddy does 0.99 on .info, minimum of 5 domains, free private registration at the moment.
I´ll have a look at the plugin but just wondering, would that all of a sudden make people sign in with their name aswell?

I didn’t end up installing the keywordluv plugin… yet. Apparently because there are two different ways that a template can call the comment author, the plugin works with some templates out of the box, but you have to do a hack to get it working on other templates. And because we’re focusing on other projects right now, we ran out of time implementing that plugin.
Personally, I don’t mind responding comments to keywords instead of first names (i.e. Me Myself and I vs Mirjam), but that’s just me. It might get people leaving their names when they sign in. But, then again it might not be worth it.
Thanks for the tip on the GoDaddy. We’ve always stayed away from .info because we didn’t think it looked professional, but are you snapping them up to create mini-sites?
I guess we’ll hear about your projects when you return to your blog… Looking forward to it.

I really don´t like responding to keywords, I don´t block them when a comment is really useful but there is just something about seeing a lot of comments from the same “keyword” without knowing the name behind it. Guess that is also because this blog is a bit more personal and I try to answer all comments, building a connection …

We just posted your GoDaddy tip on one of our side projects: Domain Names – Free Privacy. Ok. Now, I really have to stop procrastinating!

Be careful. .info, .biz and a couple others are becoming a spammers delight…probably ’cause they’re so cheap…and ISP’s among others are becoming more and more aware.
A small example of this is many comments left on blogs from these domains end up in the spam filters.
