I’ve been wrestling with similar questions, but more from a “attracting new clients” perspective than through affiliate ads. If you are writing a blog from strictly a marketing perspective, you need to be able to measure how much income you are bringing in (either through affiliate ads or new clients) and track the number of hours you put into it.

Of course it is sometimes difficult to accurately measure your “Blog ROI” since your investment is in time, not money. But I’m working on some formulas to track just that.

But for the overwhelming majority of bloggers, blogs are more than simply money-makers. There is definitely an enjoyment to writing posts. As long as that doesn’t get in the way of “work” time, I think that’s just fine too…

We’re shifting gears. Blogging on WebDiggin was lots of fun, and we’ve learned a little bit (which we’re now applying by doing some small web design contracts), but for the most part, we don’t generate any income from that site.

So we’re still keeping it as a home base to publish our monthly earnings, but we have a few content websites and article marketing experiments on the back burner.

I haven’t really heard about moreniche, so I might just snoop around to see what luck you’ve had. Good luck to us both!

Your post makes good sense. You’ve already figured out what has taken me way too long to figure out. And I mean years and years. That there are no great secret shortcuts. It’s all about doing the work and staying focused and figuring the rest out along the way. I think the difference between success and failure in internet marketing can be summed up in three words…focus focus focus.

You know what Terence, I believe there is room for anybody who is willing to put in the work and time needed to succeed, no matter what market, no matter selling which product.

And do you know why I think that is true? Because about 90-95% of all people who turn to affiliate marketing keep thinking there must be some secret as to why they aren´t making any money and others aren´t

The secret is quite simple…. WORK with FOCUS and do what you need to do to get traffic and basic SEO.

The ones who don´t get this easy bit, get stuck into trying all zillion products, guides and challenges that are almost only designed in order to make money for whoever is creating those products.
