It has been a while that I have not been posting here, so I thought I should give a short update. I have been very busy freelance writing lately but more on that in a bit. I am actually making a full time living now with my websites and writing, and although I would love to say that life is sweet and many thousands of dollars are flowing in each month, life is sweet with a couple of thousand dollars a month as well.

About half of that is through adsense and clickbank, the other half is through my freelance writing service that I have started to get some money on the side. The price I charge is ridiculously low at $1 per 100 words, but I am actually enjoying it and it helps me in other ways than the money.

Goal is to reach 100% income out of adsense and affiliate marketing, although I must say that I enjoy the interaction with my clients and know they are satisfied with the work I turn in. The more income through adsense and affiliate marketing, the better though, so I am not forgetting about that part of my business.

While I saw everybody blog about the way the Big G had updated their algo rhythm and what not, marketers complaining about their sites disappearing and their income plummeting, I kept quiet because I saw the exact opposite happening. My adsense went up and so did my clickbank sales. Sites that I haven´t touched in months all of a sudden started getting clicks, so that was good to see.

More than ever has it become clear to me that the key to making money online is writing and link building. There is no way around it. To make money, you need visitors. To get visitors you need good ranking. To get good ranking you need content and links. Period.

Not making enough money? Start writing more content and then build links till you drop dead. If 10 links is not enough to get to first page, build 10 more. If that is not enough, build 50 more, 100 even if necessary, but you MUST get on first page to get traffic. For a long time that did not hit home. Of course, the theory sounded nice but there was always a little voice saying, so what if it does not work after 100 links?

Now I do know the answer though. If it does not work after 100 links, build 100 more!

Of course, you must do your research so that you are not spending all your time on useless keywords that don´t have any search traffic, and you must make sure your keywords will bring you sales or clicks or whatever you want from them, but no matter how hard the competition, every keyword can be brought to the first page on google, through link building.

Before you think that I advise you to put all your money on just a few keywords, I have to say that is not the best way to go. Pick a niche you like writing about and go for 10 keywords that are high in potential, high in monthly searches, low in competition and start building links. After a while you will see which keywords work, which start ranking in the first 10 pages. Once you see them in the first ten, build more links and rank them higher.

It really is not rocket science.

As you know, I am a huuuuge fan of The Keyword Academy, it is TKA which put me on the right track and I think I will remain a member for life. I used their guest posting system to build links to several sites, but I have recently found something better.

Building Links on Steroids

You can read a full review of BMR on one of my other sites, point here is that I have started to use Build My Rank to take care of my link building strategies and I am absolutely loving it. Basically what you need to do is write a short article, 150 words minimum and for each 150 words you get to place 1 link. You then submit the article, it will be reviewed and posted on a high PR blog. You can submit 50 articles a day and you can schedule the publishing of all the articles so that you can focus on keywords, speed up writing and then set and forget.

If you are a reader of my blog over here, you know that I have no problem writing long posts, the ones over here can easily go over thousand words, some even over 200o words, but when you are building links you do not need many words. In fact, the shorter the article, the more articles you can write, so the shorter the better in a way.

Now here is the thing. I have been writing BMR articles (150 words/1 link) for clients and noticed that it is far easier to write 2 150 word articles than 1 300 word article. It is even easier to write 4 150 word articles than to write 1 600 word article. And because of the practice, I am getting real good at producing 150 word articles especially for BMR accounts.

So why am I telling you this? First of all, because I think you should have a look at BMR if you are in need of links to your sites. You can get 1500 links each month divided over 5 domains, so that is 300 links per domain per month. The basic account is $59 per month for 5 domains, so it comes down to $0,04 per link, which is a great deal in my eyes.

Of course, you will have to write the snippets yourself, but they will be posted on high PR blogs and you save yourself a huge amount of time.

Especially when you have a hard time ranking your keywords, BMR could be of great help. Now, I do have to warn you though. Only sign up if you are serious about building links to your site. It is $59 a month, and that might be steep if you are just starting out. I have only been a member for a short time, just finishing my second month, but I have already seen the impact it has made on my income, so I know it is worth it.

Life is Sweet as an Internet Marketer

But boy oh boy can it be hard when you hit a serious case of writer´s block. So I have been writing about for my websites for “ages”, and at one point I just could not drag my sorry butt to sit down anymore and type each day about the same old topics. I hit writer´s rock bottom and actually considered throwing in the towel at one point. I had been outsourcing articles and to be honest, the whole outsourcing experience was hell. Yeah I know, don´t expect to get $100 articles when paying pennies, but I guess it just was not my time yet. So instead of throwing in the towel, I started freelance writing myself, as a learning experience as well as a way to make some extra cash. And guess what, it has done wonders on the writing front, haven´t been experiencing writer´s block, and I am writing more than ever, actually enjoying it!
