Putting Article Marketing and OWM to the Test
Like I already mentioned in my last post Using Massive Traffic Techniques – a Long Shot or Big Money Maker? I was going to do a personal case study relating to OWM and article marketing. Because of my planning and things I had been working on, I have scheduled this case study for next week, starting the 29th of March.
As you might know, I started the OWM a while back and have now created several different lens projects, enough to see that it is working like a charm, but not enough to be moving to that wonderful farmhouse with plenty of land for my horses and dogs just yet.
I do see great potential in this though and I am convinced that if I just stay focused on following the plan as it is so conveniently laid out, and keep pounding away at it, I will be making a lot more money in the near future. Country Home here we come!
By the way, just as I started writing this post, another clickbank sale came through LOL, and the way I know that is because I have a neat little add-on installed on my FireFox browser, which tells me the instant a sale is made by showing up at the bottom of my browser.
If you are promoting Clickbank products you might want to install that too.
In order to understand fully what my challenge is going to be about, I need to give you some basic information on what the OWM plan is about so here it goes:
The plan consists of detailed steps you need to do every day for a week to set up a small promotional project. Most of the guess work is taken out so you just follow the daily steps that are explained in the plan and at the end of the week you will have 5 lenses set up around one affiliate product that you feel is worth promoting, free blogs and articles to promote those links and a few other promotional steps like submitting the RSS feeds and pinging all your work.
The more weeks you complete, the more mini-projects you will have, the more traffic you will be getting and the more sales will come in. It is no rocket science but it does involve work, writing articles, doing the promotion per project and keep an eye on your growing project portfolio in order to improve the ones that are working.
Knowing myself and realizing that I was always jumping around from one thing to the next, going back and forth without a lot of focus, I am actually seeing changes in the way I work, and becoming more productive as a result of that.
So after having built several of these mini-projects I have come across a product that I think is worth a little bit more attention and heavier promotion, which is why I am going to do the personal challenge next week.
What is my OWM Personal Challenge going to look like you might wonder, so here is the layout:
On the first day of the challenge I am going to make sure to have double the amount of lenses set up and working, so instead of 5 lenses I will make 10. To be fair, I have already been doing the keyword research and some prep work to set those lenses up fairly quick so that I will be able to stay on track with the work schedule.
The following 4 days will consist of the normal promotional steps given in the OWM plan (I can’t give you all the details here as you might understand, you have to get the guides yourself for that) PLUS I want to promote the hell out of those lenses so I will be submitting at least 10 articles to article directories or publish them on different free blogs set up for that purpose.
Over the course of next week I will also publish one small post on this blog to chart my progress and additional thoughts that I might have, so if you want to follow this challenge, you better sign up for my RSS hint hint. In the weeks to come I will keep you updated on how this special challenge is making sales….
Yes, you will get full disclosure on the results, whether they are good or bad, something that makes me a bit nervous to be honest, but I want this blog to be an honest account of my learning curves and maybe in the process help you to build a business online too.
One more thing I would like to add that might interest you, I have made my own sheets to make my keyword research easier, both when starting to pick the keywords that I initially focus on and to keep track of keywords that might be interesting to focus on once the project is starting to get organic traffic (visitors coming from search engines).
They are just simple sheets to write everything down and again, it is not rocket science or the best invention of the world, but they have helped me to finally get things on paper and tracked as well as understanding the importance of keywords and the effect they can have on the traffic you want to target.
If you decide to get the One Week Marketing Plan yourself I would like to point out two offers:
If you are looking for a discount, you can go to Alex, he is offering a $20 discount once the clickbank guarantee has worn off, so you’d get that 60 days after you buy it through his link.
However, if you buy it through my link, I will not only email you the keyword research sheet that I am using myself plus explanations on which keywords to pick, but I will also give you some of my personal time to help you set up your first project, meaning that you can either contact me through email with your questions or get my personal help through messenger to guide you through the process.
Just contact me after purchase and give me your payment details (no, I don’t need your credit card or anything like that, just proof that you have bought the product through my link) and we are good to go!
Also, I would like to remind you of the Free Squidoo Guide if you just want to get starting building squidoo lenses one your own.

Hey Mirjam,
That would be an interesting case study to follow. Makes me nervous as well, for some reason
lol
I got to bring things up to speed. Between PPC and my wife’s little project I was telling you about there’s only so much stamina left for lenses, articles, etc… Maybe I should re-prioritize… Your case study will be a good judge of that…
Thanks for the plug!
Cheers,
Alex
[Reply]
@ Alex, you´re welcome (re the plug), thought it was just fair to do seeing that we both kind of started reporting on OWM at the same time, plus this give our “mutual” readers a choice…. money rebait or extra info & personal help
Gotta say, I hesitated putting this post up but it will be a good kick in the ass, not wanting to post at the end of next week saying something like “sorry guys but I didn´t do a thing” LOL
Wondering though why it makes you nervous, it is not your ass on the line now is it?
[Reply]
I guess I am nervous because since you are hardworking and probably going to give all you’ve got. But, the end result could be disappointing in theory. In that case, it would be a disappointment for me as well, since I’ll be thinking — omg, she’s put hours into it and I’m putting in half as much, what would that imply about my future success?
But, I think you should make a disclaimer to your challenge saying that it’s very niche dependent, and your success cannot imply that someone else would as well. And also, that some OWM projects will take longer to start getting sales.

[Reply]
thanks Alex, you are making some good points there, so yeah, I will probably add such sort of disclaimer in one of the posts LOL… hey … even if it will turn out dissappointing, having the disclaimer there you would even be able to think … “oh well, see, it is niche related, she just picked the wrong niche to bust her ass off and I won´t”
[Reply]
Don’t be negative Mirjam. You will do great!
There was a reason I chose to write “your success cannot imply…”
Law of attraction, remember?

hey man, you were the one bringing it up saying the endresult could be disappointing hahahahahahaa but yeah, I do believe in the law of attraction
[Reply]
you guys seem to be having fun with this. i think i will be joining in the fun. Mirjam i apologize first hand but i did however promised alex that i will purchase from him earlier in the week. but clickbank, i’ve joined them but haven’t been able to generate a good amount of sale, just a few here and there. maybe your next post or *hint*hint* guest post on my blog if you want *hint *hint* could be about tips or advice with generateing sales via clickbank?
[Reply]
Hey Pheak, no worries about not getting OWM through my link, just means I won´t help you
:P ROFLMAO
But seriously, if it would upset me, I wouldn´t have put a reference to Alex´s discount in my post
I saw your comment on your blog about the guest post….. boy, I am starting to get popular (you are the second guy asking me that in a matter of days hahahaha) or are you guys just too “lazy” to write them yourselves?
:P
But seriously… if you want me to write about generating sales via ClickBank …. I´d rather wait because only recently have I seen that going up and I don´t want to be writing about something I can´t back up 100%, especially not as a guest poster.
And yes, we, or at least I am having fun with this, it feels nice to “finish” things in a week and keep building on “portfolio” in a more productive way
Be sure to follow my test case!
[Reply]
i’ll definitely follow your test case, and one of the reasons why you’re gaining popularity amongst the other bloggers, including myself, is that you keep it real and tell it how it is. like not helping me by not being my guest post =P because you’re not ready to blog about clickbank, thats genuine and honest, and unlike most out there, you rather wait until you can back it up 100% about what you write, i like that. honesty is the key to success as well not just the ability to write without the truth behind it.
but im not lazy hahah just only other certain things that needs me to focus more and takes up my undivided attention then i get lazy, but i end up doing it in the long run.
[Reply]
thanks for that comment Pheak, I appreciate it
I´ll have another good look at your blog and see if I can find something I can write about that might interest your readers
Can´t promise you though just when I´ll make the time to do it since I kind of overloaded myself with my coming test case LOL
(remind me in a week or two if I haven´t contacted you about it ok?)
[Reply]
Oh yea right, NOW she comes up with the offer! *eyes roll out back of head* Just kidding Alex, who luvs ya buddy.
lol
I’m impressed with the way you plugged Alex, and this should be interesting to see.
(Now thinking he should have thought for a minute on better phrasing…)
[Reply]
hahaha Dennis yeah, I waited till you had bought it through Alex´ link
butta…. about the “impressed” … I thought it was just a fair thing to do, seeing that I consider him a friend and we are talking about the same program at the same time.
“Interesting” to see… my challenge?
I hope it will be LOL because I will be busting my ass off next week
[Reply]
Hey Mirjam,
Great post, as usual. I’m doing OWM also and you’re my inspiration to keep on going.
I’ve been keeping track of your lenses and don’t know where you find the time to get all that stuff done.
You’ve been a big help to me and still are. I really appreciate the fact you take time out to keep me on track. You’re such a good………oh well, whatever
You write well, are organized and never too busy to help out some stragglers. I really do appreciate your help and enjoy reading your blog. Lots of good little tidbits in here too.
Keep it up…..you’re well on your way to great places.

I wonder if anyone is keeping track of MY lenses…
@Dennis, better phrasing?
Alex at Net-Entrepreneur.com’s last blog post..What Do You Do When You Run Out of Money For PPC?
[Reply]
Hey Joyce, always happy to see you over here and wow, thanks for the compliments, I appreciate that! I wouldn´t be helping you if you weren´t as motivated as you are
and I am sure you will see those sales coming in soon, as long as you follow all the steps!
As far as “finding the time to get all the stuff done” I wish I would do a lot more, or better said would have done a lot more from the get go, cause I did waste a lot of time being unproductive and now it still is a struggle not to fall back to “bad habits” I have developed. The OWM does seem to help me stay on track though
Keep at it!
[Reply]
@ Alex LOL I was wondering about the “better phrasing” comment as well but thought I´d better leave asking for clarification up to you
[Reply]
The squidoo guide looks awesome. I am definately interested in squidoo at the moment. Have you used squidoo to successful promote your site?
[Reply]
@ “paid review” I haven´t been using it to promote this site, but using it to set up lens projects like explained in the One Week Marketing Plan as a means of affiliate marketing and that is starting to pick up consistently
ps, sorry but took out the link, seeing that it is your first comment here.
[Reply]
Never mind, if y’all didn’t get it we’re better off…..you need the edit plugin with comment delete feature. LOL
