Personal Challenge Study Case – First Day

Today is my first day of the personal challenge announced the other day and like I said before, it is giving me a bit of the jitters to record the progress publicly but I am hoping to show you some good results and what is more important, share what I have been learning from and doing with the One Week Marketing Plan. Who knows, it may just be that “secret golden plan” that will bring you internet riches too!

So far I have been working a few hours now, mainly on creating squidoo lenses. My initial idea was to create double the amount, but over the weekend I have decided to better create 5 lenses to be proud of, and focus all my efforts on link building and trying to get those lenses up in rankings to get organic traffic.

It was a choice between keeping my word, building 10 lenses and spread out the promotional efforts, or changing the challenge a bit, building 5 lenses and bust my ass promoting them more focused.

What would you have done?

Do you think I made the right decision by focusing more and making sure those lenses are ranking well before diverting my efforts onto other lenses, or should I have made the 10 which would have taking more combined work to rank well?

Anyways, even though today I should have been doing the prep work, I actually already got to do that, so this morning I started building the lenses, which are up now but not live yet, but wanted to get them “featured” as soon as possible in order to finish the last tidbits on them as soon as possible (yeah…you better get the One Week Marketing yourself or you´ll miss out on some valuable information Jennifer is giving to build some super duper lenses).

So what else will I be doing today… apart from finishing the lenses, I have also done the groundwork to set up a small site on wordpress, that still needs some work done to contain 10 articles and some sort of review or other idea I have in my mind to promote “the product”.

That leaves me with writing 10 new articles to submit to ezine, doing some more tweaking and setting up a free blog and other accounts to do more promotion tomorrow, just wanted to get this post out to you guys before going back to work. Wish me luck!

A quick reminder if you haven´t signed up for the One Week Marketing Plan yet, you can still get it at 50% of the regular price by buying it through my link before April 1st 12:01 am EST, now that is what I call an offer you shouldn´t resist, especially if you are struggling to make a decent income online!

If you have been trying to build a business online and so far failed to make any money I would encourage you to read on. If you are struggling to get targeted traffic to your site and make affiliate sales this article will definitely be of interest to you.

But please don’t make the mistake of thinking that there is a magical program available that will make you rich without having to work for it, because this program does involve working in order to set up your own online business.

Following all the steps involved though will allow you to create multiple income streams without having to invest a huge amount of money to get started today and will allow you to create a solid business online over time.

Having chased the dream of getting rich quickly and jumping from one program to another without huge results myself has almost made me to give up on creating a business online. Fed up with investing my money and time I was close to throwing in the towel until I realized I myself was my worse enemy.

My way of continuously wasting my time on activities that did not get me any further had stopped me from finding a work schedule I could stick to and grow a business, instead I was coming up with a zillion ideas and projects without really seeing them through.

In comes the One Week Marketing Plan

I had been reading about this plan a few times already but thought it would just be another rehashed product like all the others that are coming out daily and being promoted by everybody and their dog, so I did not pay too much attention to it at first.

The more I got to think about it however, the more sense it started making sense to me, especially the credo of the author:
“If you’re willing to do for a year what others won’t, you can do for a lifetime what others can’t”

A few weeks ago I finally bought the OWM plan for one reason and one reason only, I needed a real plan I could stick to and start working on setting up a real online business instead of flying round from one thing to the next.

I needed a structure, a strategy, and a marketing plan that works.

Now that I have tested it for a few weeks myself and already see sales coming in I decided it was time to write a review on this program that is helping me to grow my online business and makes me work in a more productive way than ever before.

What Does The Marketing Plan Consist Of?

The One Week Marketing Guide

The OWM guide consists of 65 pages loaded with all the information you need to start building different income streams using free methods.

This guide is focused on building squidoo lenses and goes into detail on how to set up different projects to promote affiliate products you want to promote. It is a step-by-step guide that is easy to follow and shows a lot of tricks of the trade the author is using herself and that earn her thousands of dollars each month.

The One Week Marketing Action Plan

The short version of the OWM guide, 5 pages of length that will keep you on track. It is set up to build one project in a week and has the daily tasks laid out easily so all you need to do is follow every step.

One week, now that really doesn’t sound too bad now does it? One week to focus on promoting one product. (A project I built actually made me a sale a week later and is looking promising for the future).

The One Week Marketing Mind Maps

A cool tool if you need to envision how to grow your different income streams and shows exactly how to set up a link network to promote and build those income streams.

The One Week Marketing Checklists

A checklist I would recommend you print out per week project so that you can tick off all the things you already did and see easily what still needs to be done. It also offers the room to track the progress of each project so that you can tweak and improve different aspects of it.

A Conversation with Nick

139 Pages of an actual conversation between the author and one of her students. This is actually a great addition to the OWM plan, because you can read and follow exactly how the student set up his first project and the advice given to improve. Very inspiring to see sales were made but you will find it even more inspiring once you start making those sales yourself.

And there is more:

Apart from these 5 guides you will also receive free lifelong updates and notifications, which will ensure your OWM, plan stays on top of the latest information available and just last week I also received an excellent 72-page guide that went into detail on how to perform productive keyword research.

A great addition to the program, which explains what to look for before starting a new product. But not just that, it is now helping me with any of my online activities in order to become more productive, in other words, creating more targeted traffic.

What are the Costs Involving this Marketing Plan?

The OWM itself costs only $47 but if you are still weary about investing in your future you can sign up to receive a free 18 page preview of the course. If you have been failing to make money with affiliate marketing though, I would certainly recommend you invest those $47 in OWM and thus in your future.

Apart from that initial investment, you don’t need to pay a dollar more, since the OWM plan is focusing on using free methods to create a multiple affiliate marketing income stream.

However, please realize that it is wise to re-invest some of the money in domains to redirect your affiliate links and later down the line use all the knowledge and learning experiences to create your own successful websites in combination with using the free techniques.

What I Don’t Like About this Marketing Plan

At present it is highly focusing on building squidoo lenses which was something I wasn’t used to creating so it took a bit to get the hang of finding my way around Squidoo, but once I started the process of creating more lenses, things started to become a lot easier so you will have to stick with it to start seeing results. (I made my first sale a week after the creation of a small project and it could have been a lot faster had I followed the steps exactly the way it is explained, now I do see though that it is working… the best motivation!)

Another thing I was a bit puzzled about was the way the keyword research was presented, and I had to go through quite a few of her posts to build a research sheet myself with the information I had collected in order to easily track the research before deciding on keywords to base my projects on.

If you decide to buy the OWM through this article, please feel free to contact me with your name and number of the receipt and I will send you the research sheet I created so that you can do your own research easier and faster and have long tail keywords for future promotion.

What I Love About this Marketing Plan

I had been looking for a plan, a strategy to productively build and grow my online business further and OWM is giving me just that: a real working schedule that brings results.

Please be aware that this is not a get rich quick scheme. You will have to put in the work and effort it takes to do research, to create lenses, to create articles and do promotion. If you are serious though about building a business online and create a more than decent income, this plan will set you on the right track.

I had almost lost faith and the energy to keep on working online and even though I was still convinced that affiliate marketing is the best way to create multiple income streams online, I was getting continuously side tracked by all the information out there.

Another thing I love about the plan, or maybe better said about the author, is that she really wants her OWM-ers to succeed and earn money. It is not like what I have seen in other programs that once I had bought into the program, there was hardly any support. In fact, in the few weeks I have been working with the system I contacted the author, PotPieGirl on several occasions and it blew my mind that she actually responded within 24 hours, answering my questions and solving my problems!

She is showing you exactly what has worked for her, how she created her thousands of dollars a month income and openly shares her strategies and well laid out plan with whoever buys the One Week Marketing Plan.

And last but not least… the plan is very doable. It is brought in bite-size chunks that are easy to digest. It is not daunting, you will actually be able to finish your first project in a week so you get a feel of accomplishment and progress in the short term, but it also offers the base to creating a long-term business if you stick with it.

The possibilities are endless and the knowledge I am acquiring right now, the better habits that I am now forming through sticking to a well laid out plan are helping me to grow in other areas of my online ventures as well.

So overall two thumbs up and certainly more than worth the investment!

Are You Ready to Take Action?

Update March 4 2009:

PotPieGirl rocks! She sent out a special keyword research guide last week and has yet another additional bonus to OWM member, so also sent out a complete guide to building Squidoo lenses today, only available to those people who were smart enough to buy the One Week Marketing Plan. This guide shows a few short curts and big time savers to build a squidoo lens so that sticking to the plan becomes even easier!

Now that is what I call, value for money! Get access to the One Week Marketing Plan!

Stop Thinking, Start Acting!

As you might know I have recently changed tactics and the main goal of making these changes was to increase my productivity level. When I first started this blog I thought it to be very important to get in touch with other bloggers and comment on their blogs so that they would come back and put a comment on my blog.

Sure it was great to see the comments per posts increasing as well as getting more visitors to this blog. It was great for my ego, but that was about all that it would produce. An ego boost and wasting an aweful amount of time looking for new information to improve my blog and tweak and twitch the look and feel of it.

It sure was a fun time and I did learn quite a bit. There is however a negative side to contacting and reading a lot of MMO bloggers, and that is that they/we tend to overthink things and sooner or later instead of being really productive we can spend hours and hours working without getting anywhere.

Ok, we might be getting traffic from fellow bloggers and we might be getting a lot of comments, but really, be honest, where does that lead anyways? Does it put a lot of money in your pocket?

Last month I have been turning things upside down. Instead of doing the “social thing” I went into private mode so to say. I don´t want to become famous on twitter, myspace or whatever other social networks there are out there, so why would I bother spending hours connecting and wasting time that I could very well use to actually build a business?

I needed another plan. Another layout I could stick to and make it my work schedule.

The Schedule I am following today

So I got the One Week Marketing Plan… eventhough I had pledged to never ever in my whole life to buy another ebook. And even when writing this post I am laughing at myself, I mean, here I am telling that I want to become more productive and then I go out, buy another book on MMO and instead of acting I read even more. Oh well, you gotta be able to laugh at your own actions right?

Anyways, like I said, I needed a plan after all this time “working” online I had gotten so brainwashed by all the crap that can be found when it comes to making money online, that I had to make a fresh start and just go about things step by step.

That was about 3 weeks ago already and since then I must say my productivity level, even though it still isn´t where I want it to be, has improved dramatically. My daily activities have gone from commenting, researching, socializing, learning and posting (the fun way of spending work time that most MMO-ers are guilty of) to building websites/lenses and then promoting and building links to them through article marketing.

Most of the time I get this done with the blindfolders on because as soon as I start doing any common MMO activity I am lost again.

Bloggers – “make money onliners” – waste so much time that they could easily be compared to the millions of 12 year olds who play video games six to eight hours per day. Why do video game addicts do what they do? Because it’s fun; it’s an escape from reality to get online with your buddies and kill aliens for hours at a time. While they’re playing video games they don’t have to think about anything that stresses them. Are bloggers any different?

Are you guilty of being an MMO-er?

I never really understood the difference between the MMO movement and those marketers that were actually building their own business. I really thought they went hand in hand. Want to know what the difference is?

MMO-ers get sucked into the information highway by their fellow bloggers and start reading a lot of “how to get rich articles” written by people who aren´t putting their own words into practice themselves but think that if only they stick with that type of posting long enough, success will eventually rub off on them. After all, they are talking the right talk, right?

So I decided I did not want to get sucked into more information addiction, which is why I changed the path of this blog. I did get the One Week Marketing Plan because I needed to stick to something literally, plus I started using Unique Article Wizard apart from submitting articles to EzineArticles.com.

And just before you start wondering, I did actually already submit 5 articles to both UAW and EzineArticles.com before taking a break to write this post :P

Now my questions to you… can you guess what I see happening with my stats? Can you guess which way of promotion is getting me more click throughs to my affiliate programs, the former “blogcommenting-socializing-MMO-addiction” or my present “creating webpages-article submission combination”?

Which path will eventually lead to a substantial and steady income?

Plugin

A few weeks ago, Alex from Net Entrepreneur wrote an article about using Adsense on a site related to the MMO. What he said is that people in MMO have become blind to ads and normally won´t click on them (although Griz is proving otherwise with his MMO blog and gives many reasons why it can work, all throughout his blog).

There is one point Alex makes though, which probably indicates the difference between Adsense working well or not at all, and that is the type of traffic you get and how they arrived at your site. He suggested to manually put in adsense ads, only on specific pages that started picking up on organic traffic, arriving at a certain page through a search engine, looking for specific information.
I thought that was a pretty cool idea if you are only running a few sites and you can spend quite some time on checking all your stats and tweaking and twitching every single page to “perfection”… but what happens if you are running many different pages, 20, … 30, …. 50, …. 100 or even more?

Well, it looks like I found that answer when opening up my inbox this morning and found a post by Court, How to Show Ads to Search Engine Traffic. (BTW… congrats on breaking the 3000 RSS mark!)

Court has found a plugin for wordpress, making it possible to select which type of traffic sees adsense ads. For example, you can set up your blog in a way that only traffic coming from searchengines will see Adsense ads, while visitors coming from social sites, entrecard, regular visitors who have bookmarked your blog etc, won´t see the ads at all, therefore probably increasing your CTR and thus in the long run getting more revenue per click.

Could this be the answer?

Dropping EntreCardsDuring yet another EntreCard dropping session I just kept wondering why the hell this has become such an addictive habit. At the moment my ad “sells” for 173 credits because I have switched to a faster way of dropping and to be completely honest, I do get most of my traffic through EntreCard at the moment.

I have tried different things to drop faster, like using sitehoppin and powerdroppin, in combination with the Firefox add-ons like ImgLikeOpera (to make sure the only image loaded is the EntreCard widget) and bookmarked a list of random sites with their EntreCard above the fold, to open up different taps at the same time. This tactic lets me drop around 200 cards in about 30 minutes, giving me quite some possibilities to advertise on different blogs each day.

Now, even though at first I thought this was quite nifty, my opinion is shifting towards the feeling that I am destroying my own options and am guilty of defeating the whole purpose of Entrecard, building up quality traffic.

Google analytics stats show a bounce rate that I am quite ashamed of so I was thinking of ways to get that percentage down, which is going to be my goal for the coming period and part of my plan of action is starting to drop wiser.

You see, I did not really care where I would drop my card, whether it being on blogs about sports, blogging, history, or whatever site was on the lists of bookmarks readily available online. But by doing this I am actually inviting fast droppers to my blog, the ones that only enter to drop and leave, just as I have been doing lately as well.

Now, thinking about which blogs actually draw my attention, they are all related to only a few categories, and they are the only ones where I do take the time to read the titles and posts, even visit and read more posts and comment on the ones I enjoyed or which have taught me something new.

This train of thought is leading me to think that possibly, those bloggers could be doing the same thing, being involved in certain categories; their attention probably will be caught by blogs in those same categories as well.

I still believe Entrecard is an awesome system for beginning blogs who haven’t yet gotten a huge amount of back links and contacts, but only if it is being used in the right way, so I guess my days of EntreCard whoring are over and I am going to focus more on quality drops…

Who knows, it might just do wonders for my bounce rate ;)

Are you using EntreCards to your advantage or are you just playing the system?
