I am Dutch and I am doing it My Way!
July 11th… 2001 .. Herman Brood, a famous Dutch artist jumps off the Hilton Hotel in Amsterdam… Whatever.. you might think, “why would I want to read about this artist I don´t even know, who thought life wasn´t worth fighting for, almost 6 years ago”.
You know, life to me, is about passion… it is about happiness, about feeling good about yourself. It is about helping others, offer a hand. It is about being inspired, inspired by life itself.
It is about feeling so inspired, you know you will achieve your goals.
So this guy… a regular person “just like the rest of us”… jumped off this famous hotel in Amsterdam. To me, this “regular guy”.. is the symbol of living life to the fullest. Shame he felt he should terminate his own life…shame that he felt its end had come….
And well… I sure ain´t no Sinatra fan.. but this song, this way of giving it back to us, the public, … just brings me to tears. I can just feel the passion, the will to get the best out of life eventhough it is sung by a guy who decided to end His own life before life would own him…

Depression in general is a disease which is hard to understand by people who have never really been depressed, as are suicidal thought when you have never been in that “position”.
This guy had a rich life, living it to the fullest, but he was “going down fast” after living it the hard way with a lot of drugs, alcohol and the lot.
His body was starting to give up long before he gave up… He obviously felt his time had come…
