The Naked Truth
That is right, I am giving you the Naked Truth about the stats for this month. And if you already want to hop to another blog, thinking this is yet another boring detailed “I am showing off statistics that really aren´t worth bragging about”, you might want to wait a bit and keep on reading, these are going to be different!
Today I am celebrating the first month anniversary, and during this month, I have posted 38 times. That in itself really isn´t a big deal, the things I have learned from it are.
Being honest and sincere makes a bigger impact than just following the rest.
I have also learned that there is supposed to be a “blogging community” you need to be a part of in order to succed. I find that hard to believe, seeing that there are billions of blogs around the whole world, talking about thousands of different subjects, in many different languages, and very different approaches and points of view. The only thing they have in common, is that they are using the same format of publishing their thoughts into the world. Does that make it a “community”?
Is it really in our best interest to appeal to ever single person in the world or would that just make you shallow?
I have”grown” when it comes to traffic, RSS readers (thank you so much for signing up!), alexa ranking, even picked up a few bucks here and there (but not throught this blog!). I have been stumbled upon, “fired” and digged, things that I would not like to happen to me in the Real World out there, but over here it has been great.
But the area I feel I have personally grown in the most, is the level of dedication and persistance, building new positive habits and becoming more organised eventhough I know I still have a long way to go.
Continuing with the statistics, I have commented on well over a 100 blogs I found interesting enough to comment on, no matter whether they were “do- or no-follow” blogs. I have learned a bit about SEO and “getting more traffic”, I have read a lot of really crappy posts and fortunately also some really inspiring stories aswell.
Another important thing I have learned this past month is the impact words can have on my own thoughts, leading me to think how much I would love my words to impact somebody elses thoughts.
If it were possible to draw a personal statistic chart on happiness and share it here with you, you would actually see the numbers going up and up, feeling stronger and more confident than when I first started writing this blog, which to me means it is becoming a success already.
And that to me is enough reason to keep on blogging and be grateful for the people who are reading me, thank you so much!
How do you rate your succes?

Nice. In every respect.
First of all, 38 posts. Whoa.. this makes me feel like an inadequate looser.
Then the comments on over 100 blogs. This is an issue for me. I have a yellow sticker on my monitor saying comment comment comment, reminding me how important participation is. But, hey, I want my comments to be meaningful, right? and then I want time to write my posts, time to promote my blog……. AAAAAHHH!!!!
Did you enjoy the Getting Paid for Fooling Around article?
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex!
If you break it down, 100 comments in 30 days isn´t really that much if you come to think of it, I used entrecard in the evenings, when it was time to “relax”, sitehopping a bit and I would only comment on blogs that looked interesting, and had posts that I could actually comment on, that “spoke” to me, if you know what I mean. Plus, I came across blogs so interesting, I would go back and follow their progress and read through older posts
I did enjoy your post, although I am not really into monetizing this blog at the moment, nor am I sure I will in the near future. I started writing this blogs with other goals in mind, to remain on track with my other work and get more motivated in the things I do
Thanks for commenting!

it is true like you said that a blog helps you develop a sense of commitment and dedication, to others and yourself. Great blog all in all. Count on me to drop by regularly

I am actually doing pretty much the same things. My traffic is going up , I am commenting on a lot of blogs, I am discovering new things… the works. I am doing all that to prove a point, but I am enjoying it all. Blogging comes seems to come naturally to me. I wonder why I haven’t been blogging earlier?

Hi Chris,
I am starting to wonder the same thing
Apart from this blog I have several other online projects, one of which is a website about another one of my passions, but it has been left out a bit lately, since updating it is becoming such a hassle. I am actually considering to change it into a blog type of website, if I get to work out how to translate a theme I particularly like into spanish …
thanks for stopping by and good luck with your project

I hate those posts about stats and thought this was a great one. I always wonder who struggles with their stats and understanding them and what to do about them. I just read one where they complained their earnings were down, only $1900 for January. While it may be the truth and they may be accustomed to making more, at what point is it just showing off? anyway, I am going to move to a score system myself particularly for posting on other blogs.
There is a a community out there. It is not in the general blog world, it is when you discover your niche. After 5 months I finally got into my niche. One regular commenter turned out to be someone I went to college with but didn’t know but we were in the same academic bilding all the time at the same time. What is even stranger is that I no longer live in the US and neither does he, I live in France and so does he, and come to find out he is from upstate NY and so am I. To me that is proof that there is a community. He didn’t comment on my blog for any of these things but we eventually discovered them after developing a dialog. You will too.

Hi again Owen
The first 2 weeks I got completely addicted to my stats, looking at them continuously, to see if somebody else had found his way to my blog, upto a point it was driving me crazy, already seeing myself in a mental hospital a few months down the road when stats if stats would continue to climb
Fortunately I have been able to get my feet back on the ground again and started focussing on my blog, rather than its stats and the point system is already proving to be worth the efforts.
Good to hear about your experience within your own community and I must admit I am glad to see a fellow blogger who took a little longer to find their niche… I am still thinking about different directions to go, changing my mind continuosly, but I am sure that sticking to daily work rythm will eventually set me on the right track.
Thank you for the encouraging words!
