Now before you think this is the only book that completely influenced how I think, I have to say that is not true. During my time online I have come across several books that had a major impact on my life and way of thinking, but this book actually is responsible for the “Big Transition”.
So what do I mean to say by “Big Transition”?
I feel I can split my online existence, my experience and time online as you may say, in 2 periods.
The first period I was just a visitor and using the Internet to find information, contact other people and get to know more about my interests. I was completely unaware of the fact that a huge amount of money was made online every single minute of every single day. Ok, I did see companies advertising their services and thought that it was just another form of publicity but I had absolutely no clue that every user online could actually become a part of that Money Generating Empire. I still thought that money was made by the hour, either working for somebody else or setting up your own business, but that it was all about wages.
In comes the e-book I read that changed my way of thinking
And all of a sudden I find myself in the second period of Online Existence. I read and keep reading, finding there is a whole different way of making money by creating websites and selling products for others. I find that it is not about wages paid by the hour but commissions made without even sitting behind the computer. I started to become aware about the zillions of possibilities the Internet offers and even though I was pretty excited about it’s existence before, now that I know where to look, all these opportunities around excite me even more.
It really felt to me like this whole world was opening up to me and that as long as you know where and what to look for, you could literally see all the money being made online, and more importantly that it was actually possible to get a cut of it myself too.
The book I am referring to is the Super Affiliate Handbook and what it sets apart from all the other e-books I have read since is that to me it is probably the one single handbook everybody should read because of it’s thoroughness and explanations. The first time I read it I was completely overwhelmed with all the information it offered. But looking back at it now, it is also the one that is less hyped up.
Granted, this e-book is probably the one e-book that has been around for years and has gone through many updates ever since it was first released. The basic ground thoughts of the e-book never changed showing that there really isn´t any big secret other than having to work hard to reach your goal.
A little while back I was posting on how fed up I actually am with all the hyped up products and aggressive selling techniques used by the “big Gurus” of Internet Marketing and how I felt that 95% of all the e-books coming out are a lot of rehashed same old same old techniques offered with a new cover and new marketing strategies, making the buyer think they were actually buying the real secret to Internet marketing success if they had been failing up till now.
And that is probably the feeling I have been having for the past few months now, a feeling of discomfort and dissatisfaction looking around online. So many people trying to push you into buying e-books you really can live without because they are using the psychology of the human mind. The greed and need for more money without working for it. They are selling illusions of being able to make a lot of money without having to work for it, without having to put in all that it takes to get to the point where you can do maintenance on your site from the comfort of your beach chair on some deserted beach in this tropical location.
And even though this might be true for some people to some extend, what almost all Guru fails to mention in their selling page is that becoming a success takes a lot of dedication, a real business plan, investments, reinvestments, outsourcing and growing your business one brick at a time and that it will take a lot of work, dedication and hours to get to that point.
Of course I have to be realistic and realize that everybody has his or her own responsibility. If you are “stupid” enough, or maybe even better said, hungry and greedy enough, you will buy into this illusion of fast riches, even faster cars and huge mansions. And you will be off buying one e-book after another that claims to be that next secret to overwhelming wealth and prosperity only to find yourself become disillusioned more and more by each book you buy and each program you sign up for.
You see, what many people fail to understand is that they might actually be holding the real secret within already, but are becoming distracted by their own need for instant cash and fame, distracted by all these hyped and aggressive sales pages and instead of following their own path and working their butts off creating their own empire of websites, building links, gaining authority and generating traffic, they jump around thinking they don’t already know what they need to know.
If that sounds like you, I would recommend to just toss out all those unread e-book files, cancel all subscriptions you are spending money on without getting anything out of it really, completely disconnect from the internet and start working on your own websites. If you really feel you need some guidance and thorough information, in order to set up a business plan that really works, you should consider buying the SAH, print it out and take the time it takes to read and thoroughly understand all 222 pages of this huge book and only then get back to work again and kick it hard.
